CHARISMA DAILY DEVOTIONAL 5TH JANUARY 2021

CHARISMA DAILY DEVOTIONAL 5TH JANUARY 2021

CHARISMA DAILY DEVOTIONAL

TUESDAY 5TH JANUARY 2021

 THE NEW LIFE IN CHRIST.

SCRIPTURE READING: 2 Cor. 5: 1 - 17.

It is a New Year, a new beginning of freshness and grace. A year wherein every believer must be prepared to make a difference in his or her journey of faith. The new man is one who has its source and existence in Christ, the spring of living water. To this, Saint Paul affirms; if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, for old things have passed away and all things become new in Christ Jesus our Lord (2 Cor. 5:17). This new life is kept alive only when the believer taps from the spring of life that Christ freely bestows. And we cannot but live constantly drawing our spiritual water from Christ. Hence, the Christian who abandons this source of life is spiritually wrinkled and dry in grace.

The fruitful Christian longs to live, move and act in Christ from whom he draws his strength. A river, well or pond can dry up when their sources completely dry up. But there is one spring of grace, a spring of living water welling up to eternal life. This stream of grace is the One who told the Samaritan woman; if you know who it is that is asking you for a drink, you would have asked Him to give you living water that will completely quench your thirst, the water of salvation (John4:10).  Since Christ, the living water, works through his body the church, the believer cannot fully draw life from Christ without active participation in the life of the church.
